Drawing, pencil, brown ink, 19,8 x 25,4 cm (visible), laid paper, signed at right of centre: "Gernay / Spa", dated at bottom left: "1844." (few light brown stains on recto and verso).

Under passe-partout and gilt frame (not studied outside frame).

Charming sheet with 13 cats in various positions. On the verso another drawing of 2 cats, visible through a passe-partout. The Belgian Pierre Noël Gernay (1801-1858) was active in Spa and is mainly known for his flower pieces and still lifes.
