Contemp. marbl. calf, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, red leather title-label, blue spr. edges (some rubbing). Good copy.
First and only edition of one of the earliest collections of biographical documents on Pope Adrian VI (Utrecht 1459-1523 Rome), who teached in Leuven and was tutor of the future Emperor Charles V. Engr. ill.: front. by J. Wandelaar, title-vignette, nice folding portrait by J. Houbraken, fold. geneal. table, fold. pl. (funeral monument), and 1 ill. in-text depicting a medal. Nice and large tailpieces, one of which depicting a labyrinth. Title in red and black.
