Story (1st ed.: Leiden, 1687) of Dellon's imprisonment by the Portuguese Inquisition in Goa, Daman and later in Brazil and Lisbon. He was condemned to death at the stake but his sentence was commuted to 5 years in the galleys. With the help of Bossuet, he was sent back to France before the end of the 5 years. Illustrated with 6 copper-engr. plates (3 fold.) representing judgement and penance scenes, 3 headpieces and a title-vignette. The work was put on the Index in 1690.
