First edition of this famous botanical work, produced during the great period of French colour printing. This set includes parts 1-7 (with the 7th in 2 vol.) and is illustrated with 349 numbered engr. plates and 11 "bis"-numb. plates (33, 54, 83, 112, 120, 123, 129, 148, 231, 307 and 333), protected with tissue guards. Plates by Lambert jeune after Jean François Pierre Turpin (1775-1840), one of the three giants of botanical art of the era, all finished by hand by Anne-Ernestine Panckoucke (1784-1860), the publisher's wife, and one of Redouté's most gifted pupils. Our set includes also J.L.M. Poiret's "Partie élémentaire" (also known as "Leçons de flore") and P.J.F. Turpin's "Iconographie végétale" illustrated with 2 fold. engr. tables and 56 numb. engr. plates (I-LVI) and 8 "bis"-numb. plates (ii, iv, iv (ter), xxxvi, xliii, xliv, xlviii, lvi).
