Red shagreen signed "Cordonnier-Canon relieur à Gand", large gilt fillets frame with interlaced fillet compositions in the corners, gilt lettered dedication in the centre of the upper board, lozenge ornament composed of interlaced gilt fillets in the centre of the lower board, gilt orn. spine with thin bands, doublures of embossed paper decorated with a network of wavy blue and gold fillets on a white background, framed with gilt fillets, endpapers of same paper, a.e.g. (sl. white shadows on upper board). Nice large margin copy.

Nice presentation copy "À L.L. A.A. R.R. et I. le duc et la duchesse de Brabant", printed with a dedication leaf. The author (Sint-Niklaas 1832-1916 Ghent), whose name appears at the beginning of the text as secretary of the 'Société littéraire", began studies at the St. Joseph Minor Seminary of Sint-Niklaas in 1846 and enrolled at the Major Seminary in Ghent in 1853. He became Superior of the St. Joseph Minor Seminary of Sint-Niklaas in 1867, then President of the Major Seminary in 1888 and bishop of Ghent in 1889.
