Beschrijving lot
Engraving, 44,9 x 32,0 cm, laid paper, signed in the plate at bottom left: "Camillus Paderni Rom. Regius delin. Inu. delineauit." and right: "Philippus Morghen Florenti. Reg. Incisor Sculp." (wormhole on lower platemark).
In gilt wooden frame (not studied outside frame). Fine impression with wide margins.
Refined engraving after a design by the Italian Camillo Paderni, who was a painter at the Spanish court. Charles III (1716-1788) is portrayed in an oval frame with a battle scene in the background. Below are the ancient treasures of Herculaneum near Naples, which was excavated during his reign.
Joined: Leisnier, Nicolas August. Vauzelle, Jean-Lubin (after) - Hall of the Ambassadors in the Alhambra. 1st half 19th c. Engraving, 35,5 x 45,6 cm, wove paper, signed at bottom left: "Vauzelle del." and right: "Leisnier sculp.". Subject identified in Spanish, French and English at bottom centre (small stains, dry stamp at bottom right). Under passe-partout and frame (not studied outside frame). (2 pcs)
