Nice multicoloured pastel study of a woman. De Cock (Ghent 1823-1904) was a Belgian painter and engraver who was mainly active in France. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, first as a singer, but when he was struck by deafness, he devoted himself to painting. He took lessons with François-Louis Français and Edmé-François Daubigny.
Prov. Franciscus Bauweraerts (stamp, Lugt 3325).
