Rare first edition of the relation of Zucchelli's missionary activities in Congo, Ethiopia and Angola during 5 years. In addition, Zucchelli gives also information on the military and civil wars, on rituals and ceremonies, slave trade, etc. On his travel to and from Congo, the Franciscan Capuchin friar Zucchelli (1663-1716) stopped in Bahia, chapters 5 and 20 are dedicated to a description of the city also with details on the Indians of Brazil. The Portuguese were the first missionaries in Congo after the discovery of the region in 1489. In 1645, with the consent of the Portuguese, the Pope sent Italian Capuchins to Congo until 1704, year of the return of Zucchelli in Italy.
