Personal pictures probably made by the official army historian and infantry general Merzbach (+ 1943) illustrating the pontoneer company constructing a trestle bridge, two batteries (15th and 31st) with identification of some lieutenants, and the use of a diving suit. The 19th century progress of the artillery made the purchase of a new field of fire ("Groot Schietveld") necessary which substantially enlarged the military training ground, stretching from both sides of the Bredabaan since 1894.
