Rare first edition of the history of air navigation by the physician and chansonnier Turgan (1824-1887). With introduction by G. de Nerval about aerostation in literature. The French aeronaut Godard (1827-1890) made his first free ascent in 1847 with a balloon he constructed with his brother. Both had a workshop in Lille. Godard made several inventions and a.o. helped H. Giffard in constructing the first steam airship which was launched in 1853 from Vienna.
