First edition of the first part of the work, and new edition of the second part (here bound at the top), entitled "The Plans, Sections, Profiles and Elevations of the Chapel of the Chasteau Royal de Versailles" by Pierre Le Pautre. Published at the initiative of painter and print seller Gilles de Mortain to present the state of completion of the palace and gardens of Versailles at the end of the reign of Louis XIV. Composed of an engr. title, an engr. privilege and 55 engr. plates of which many double-page representing the plans and splendid perspective views of the castle, the fountains, groves, basins, the Trianon, and finally the castle of Marly, its orangery and its famous machine, designed by Pierre Menant, Girard for the fountains, Delamonce, Martin, Le Pautre, F. Blondel, etc. Including the suite of 13 plates by Pierre Le Pautre (who died in 1716) dedicated to the Royal Chapel. Summarising: 10 numbered plates, numbered from 1-10, plus 3 unnumb. plates ather the 7th plate; and 38 numbered pl., numbered 1-38 and 4 unnumbered plates in between. The total amount of plates varies for each copy.
