Rembrandt presented the Amsterdam Receiver-General, Jan Uytenbogaert, as a noble and meticulous professional, while simultaneously hinting at a fatherly relation to his young servant. An early unfinished state (with most of the background only thinly etched), of a later unidentified copy.

Joined: 1. Rembrandt Van Rijn (after) - Portrait of Jacob Haaringh. Etching and drypoint, 12 x 10,5 cm, laid paper, signed and dated in the plate "Rembrandt 1655". Later copy of the 5th and final state, with plate cut to the head and bust. Ref. Hollstein XVIII:275.5. - 2. Idem - Abraham's sacrifice. Etching and drypoint, 15,7 x 13 cm, laid paper, unsigned (sm. def. at upper right and lower left corners, old glue marks). Later reverse copy published by Basan. Ref. Hollstein XVIII:34.copy 1. - New Hollstein (Rembrandt) 224 copy b2. - 3. Idem - Joseph telling his dreams. Etching, 14,2 x 10,5 cm, wove paper. Later copy in reverse, possibly Denon. Ref. Picart, Bernard. After Samuel Van Hoogstraten - Etching, 15 x 25,2 cm, laid paper, signed in the plate at the lower left "Rembrandt f." (trimmed to platemark). After a drawing in the Chatsworth collection by Samuel van Hoogstraten (1627-1678), which was long thought to be by the hand of Rembrandt. (7 pcs)
