Marie of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1845-1912) married in 1867 Prince Philippe of Belgium (1837-1905), Count of Flanders, and was the mother of King Albert I (1875-1934). Various topics. The Countess writes i.a. about books (i.a. Anatole France, Henri Forneron's "Ducs de Guise", Dostoïevski's "Humiliés et offensés", etc.). One letter refers to the binder J. Schavye, another to Max Rooses. Some letters were written from the Château des Amerois, a 19th-century neo-gothic style castle in the Ardennes Forest, south-east of Bouillon, bought by her husband in 1868, where she did sketches and watercolours.
