Drawing, black chalk, heightened with white, 44,5 x 35 cm, laid paper, unsigned.
In gilt, orn. frame (not studied outside frame).
Andromache leans on Hector's tomb, holding a wreath, while Hector's mother Hecuba is seated before the vase-shaped tomb. Her grandson Astyanax standing before her reaches up to pull the fabric away. Most likely based on the Mezzotint etching by Thomas Burke of 1771, after Kauffmann's painting.
