Contemp. marbled calf, triple gilt ruled covers, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, gilt edges (rubbed, joints partly split, head split, loss of leather to bottom spine, corners bumped).

Deluxe folio edition (a 4to ed. was also published the same year by Bassompierre) with the same copper-engravings as in the ed. of 1746 published in The Hague: 31 plates by Schley, Picart, Fokke and Tanjé after Coypel, Cochin fils, Trémolières, Boucher and Lebas, with captions and numb. with Roman numerals, one armorial headpiece and a title vignette. Text within a frame ornamented with nice wood-engr. initials and tailpieces. The compositions of Coypel conceived as paintings in the years 1715-1720 were used in several 18th-c. editions.
