First edition of this naval architecture treatise by Bouguer (1698-1758), French hydrographer and explorer. The illustration includes 12 technical plates and 4 copper-engr. vignettes (1 with coat-of-arms of the dedicatee, the Count of Maurepas, Minister and State secretary of Navy, and 3 naval views by Quentin-Pierre Chedel).
