2 vol., oblong 4to; 2 engr. titles, one fold. map., portrait, 202 pl. (foxing throughout, esp. in margins, pl. sl. age-toned, some text. ff. browned in vol. I, occ. marg. tears, one strengthened to a text f. in vol. I, one text f. partly detached in begin. vol. I, error in the numb. of pl. 34, numb. 55).
Contemp. three-quarter light brown morocco, double gilt ruled marbled paper boards, gilt orn. spines with raised bands, brown spr. edges (scratching, edges rubbed).
First edition of the text written by J.-J. De Cloet (Bruges 1790-Freyr 1855) and first issue of the 202 plates, hand-coloured and partly heightened with Arabic gum, lithographed a.o. by Jean-Baptiste Madou, after the drawings of Otto van der Howen, B. Mary, T. Hubert, A. de Marbaix, etc. featuring city views, monuments, landscapes, castles and so on, in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Complete copy of the 2 lithogr. titles by H.A Kreins, the coloured portrait of the Princess of Orange by Prevost and of the fold. map with borders coloured. Enriched in vol. I with a plate "Petite ville de Walcourt" (n. 34).
