Very good condition.
Hastily written letter addressed to "Herr Dorff" (?) about a pianino (upright piano) for her son Ferdinand Schumann (1849-1891), then aged 21. She mentions also several times Pleyel, her favorite Parisian piano manufacturer. Clara Schumann, née Wieck (1819-1896) was one of the most greatest pianist of the Romatic era and also a fine composer, wife of Robert Schumann and very close friend of Johannes Brahms, whom she encouraged in his early years. In 1862, six years after Robert Schumann’s death, she acquired a little house in Lichtental (Baden-Baden), where she lived with her chidren from 1863 until 1873. Ferdinand was her second eldest son and the only one to pass the family name. He acted as clerk and died prematurely aged 42.
