Hondius' edition of the double hemisphere map of the world with portraits of Julius Caesar, Claudius Ptolemaeus, Gerard Mercator and Jodocus Hondius, and personifications of the Four Elements. "A fine ornate example of the decorative cartography of the time". Hondius' map includes for the 1st time part of the north Australia coastline and a redrawing of NE Canada. First published in Hondius' 1631 Appendix to the "Atlas Maior", it was included in all issues of the "Atlas Novus" until 1649.
