Etching, 47 x 62 cm, thick laid paper with watermark (fleur-de-lis in double circle, similar to Heawood:1589), signed in plate at lower "Gio. Batta. Piranesi Architetto dis. e inc." (some foxing, but not obtrusive, large repaired tear of ca. 25 cm at lower right corner).

View of the French Academy (Palazzo Salviati-Mancini) on the Corso, Rome, established by Louis XIV, King of France, for the French students of painting, sculpture and architecture. A very saturated and dark impression of the 1st state (of 5), with address of "Bouchard e Gravier".
