9 large etchings, 50 x 61 cm, 41,5 x 55 cm (platemark), laid paper, unsigned (central horiz. folds, sl. toned, some tiny tears).
The very rare complete series of 9 plates depicting the festivities in Brussels celebrating Emperor Leopold's victory of the Turks at Vienna and Budapest. Following the allegorical title-plate with Leopold in the triumphant chariot, the series shows the Joyous Entry of Leopold at the Place Sablon with a military salute, the fireworks at the Sablon, the Royal banquet festivities in the Coudenberg gardens, and the firework display at the Royal Gardens. This is one of the most impressive series by Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708). Very good clear impressions of the 1st state with wide margins.
Ref. Hollstein III:263-171. - Landwehr (De Hooghe):131-139.
