Contemp. marbled calf, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, marbled edges (head and tail missing, edges and corners rubbed).

First French translation by the anatomist Félix Vicq-d'Azir (1748-1794), of "Saggio intorno al luogo del seppellire" by Piatoli (1749-1809), first publ. in 1774 in Modena. The translator added a long, significant "Discours préliminaire" with information on cleaning places infected with rotting dead bodies, the dangers of burials, etc.
