Beschrijving lot
Coloured etching, 55 x 47,5 cm, vellum paper, signed in the plate.
Under glass and frame (not studied outside of frame).
Trompe l'oeil with bank notes and paper money from the First French Republic, with a concordance table at the lower margin with indications of the value per annum. A testimony to the economic devaluation in France in the years after the French Revolution. By the Belgian engraver Maillart (Brussels 1764-1856), who was known for his prints and drawings of Napoleonic costume and religious orders.
