Berry and 23 half-page engr. portraits in text by R. Vaughan (some pasted on). Bentivoglio's testimony on the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) is based on historical sources and his own experience as an apostolic nuncio to Flanders between 1607 and 1615. The map engr. by F. Having become polished through constant intercourse with the most refined society, the author was considered a mature observer and skilled diplomat.
