Mod. three-quarter light brown leather, marbled paper covers, spines with raised bands blind-ruled, red. spr. edges (covers rubbed, black staining to some covers).

Illustrated with the portrait of Ludovico Ariosto after Charles Eisen in frontispiece of vol. I and with 46 plates (3 places as front.) after J.M. Moreau the young, J.B. Cipriani, de Ghendt etc. Some plates are dated from 1773 or 1774; according to Cohen the work wasn't published before 1775.
