Only known copy of this newsprint, published in Amsterdam with two inset maps. The first one after Georg Keller's (also: Köler; 1568-1634) "Oostende en omgeving tijdens de laatste aanval op de 3de afsnijding tijdens het Beleg". The second is very similar to Hugo de Groots' plan "Het belegh van Oostende" (1600) and the "Belagerung der Statt Ostende angefangen den 26 Maij 1601 übergeben den 20 Sept Anno 1604".
The text reports on the Siege of Ostend from 5 July 1601 onwards when a Spanish force under Archduke Albrecht besieged the fortress being held initially by the Dutch and reinforced by English troops under Sir Francis Veere who arrived on 9 July. It further documents, in December, Veere proposing a parley to the Spaniards for negotiations, in reality a ploy hoping to gain time to await the arrival of the reinforcements, the huge Spanish assault on 7 January of the next year, the further course of the events in 1603 and the start of the Siege of Sluis on 19 May 1604. It ends on 2 July 1604 (and not on 20 September, the end of the siege).
