Very rare first German edition of the first version (PN 3173) published simultaneously with the French ed. It is the last opera Rossini wrote although he lived for nearly forty more years. It was first performed in Paris in 1829. The length and demanding requirements have led to difficulties in producing the work. When performed, the opera is often cut. Due to its revolutionary content productions were also limited. Libretto in 2 cols French and German. With lithographed title, cast list, table of contents, and music fully engraved.
