Prov. Julian [Julien] H. Green (1900-1998), American writer who wrote primarily in French and was the first non-French national to be elected to the Académie française (in succession of François Mauriac). He studied 3 years (1919-1922) at the University of Virginia ("Julian H. Green/ University of Virginia/ November 1920", ownership entry + bookplate).
