Later edition (first 1671) and standard work of the time on physics by the French philosopher, physicist and mathematician J. Rohault (1618-1672), largely based on the material and pedagogical approach that Rohault had developed in his weekly conferences. Ill. with 16 engr. pl. showing instruments, experiments and phenomena in physics. Rohault was the leading advocate and teacher of Descartes' natural philosophy among the first generation of French Cartesians. Titles in red & black.
