Drawing, pen and black ink with green and pink wash, framing lines in brown ink, 23,3 x 14 cm, unsigned (horiz. folding line, lower right corner and lower right edge trimmed, tear in lower left edge, considerable hole in upper left corner affecting the image, sm. tears and hole at lower right edge, old repairs on verso, sl. soiled).

Fine composition of the Virgin Mary presenting the infant Jesus to the priest in the temple.The scene is crowned by two putti holding up a red baldachin. Executed in a self-confident and skilful manner, the drawing showing the hand of an experienced master. Style and technique come close to those of Maarten de Vos and his pupils. However, so far, the draughtman cannot be identified.
