16mo: [4]-111 pp.

Olive green morocco signed Guild of Women-Binders, gilt and mosaic floral decoration on the boards, flat spine with the same decoration, doublures in Japanese paper tinted and decorated with gilt little tools representing a sunset, framed with a large gilt and mosaic decoration as on the cover, ivory Japanese endpapers boarded with a gilt fillet, a.e.g. (sl. faded spine, some dark stains on the boards). Under mod. paper case.

Nice binding probably made by Constance Karslake (pen-and-ink initials "C.K." at the bottom right of each doublure), member of the "Guild of Women Binders" fonunded in 1898 by her father, the bookseller Frank Karslake.

Binders, Oxford St. W., fillets frame and gilt tool in the corners on the boards, gold-tooled spine on raised bands, a.e.g. (faded spine, sl. rubbed boards, margin. offsetting on the endpapers). Under mod. paper case. 57th ed. (1st ed.: 1879) of this famous book which popularized Buddhism, by the English poet and journalist Arnold (1832-1904).
