Modern limp overl. vellum by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, gilt titled flat spine.
English translation by William Morris of this French romance "Amis and Amile", based on a well-known legend of friendship and sacrifice. Neat typography by Morris, printed in red & black Chaucer, with the title and first page of text within a large black Gothic floral border, and initials. The Chaucer was a smaller version of the Troy type, i.e. Gothic type, created by Morris for "The Recuyell of the Historyes of Troy". Edition limited to 530 unnumbered copies (incl. 30 on vellum).
