Contemp. half calf, marbled paper on covers, gilt flat spine with morocco label (corners sl. rubbed, turn-ins sl. frayed). Good copy.
A collection of 100 fables inspired by Aesop and some other classical authors by the Italian Humanist Gabriel Faerno (d. 1561). This book is ill. with 1 engr. title vign. and 100 mid-page woodcuts copied from the first editions published in the Low Countries by Plantin in 1566 and 1567 and engr. by Arnold Nicolai and Gerard van Kampen after Pieter van der Borcht.
