Folio: [4]-12-168-92-66 pp. (lacking the plan of Jerusalem, some sm. wormtracks in the blank margins of the first lvs, some dampstaining on the upper blank margins, text fol. 29 in the 2nd part replaced by one of another ed., some browning and spotting, not really affecting the pl.).
Contemp. mottled calf, double gilt border around central gilt element "libera nos a malo" on covers, gilt orn. spine on 7 raised bands (joints somewhat rubbed).
Later edition of the Dutch translation of the popular illustrated biblical history "Le grand tableau de l'univers" by J. Basnage de Beauval (1653-1723), with poems by Abraham Alewyn (1664-1721) and text enlarged by Mattheus Gargon (1661-1728). Ill. with an engr. portrait of Johan Trip Berkenrode by Lindenbergh, dedicational head- and endpiece, another hand-coloured head- and endpiece, a hand-coloured engr. title by de Hooghe, engr. title vign., an author's portr. by Lindenbergh, 2 double-page maps "Orbis per diluvium de stitutus" and "De Reysen Christi des Heyland", 1 double-page plate (the temple of Jerusalem), 1 full-page plate by R. de Hooghe announcing the New Testament, 140 nice half-page rectangular ill., 30 richly illustrated endpieces and 1 headpiece.
