Second Dutch ed. of this travel account by G. Sandys (1578-1644), trsl. by Johannes Grindal. Engr. ill. (compl.): front., 3 full-page and 26 half-page pl. of landscapes, monuments, floorplans of buildings, local people, a plan of Jerusalem. Sandys travelled to the Levant in 1610, spending a year in Turkey, Palestine and Egypt. His text (1st ed. London 1615) was soon considered as a special authority on the Near East. The frontispiece has imprint Amsterdam, J. Benjamin, 1654 (1st Dutch ed.). Printed in gothic type.
