Description du lot
8vo: xii-[4]-107-[8] pp. (some spotting, mostly to the pl.).
Contemp. blindst. dark purple cloth (loosening, spine def.).
Rare first edition of one of the lesser known works of the eminent Victorian explorer, Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890) creating not only a work on falconry but moreover a compendium on the mores and manners of the people of Sindh who he met between 1845-46. Unfortunately Burton's enthusiasm wasn't echoed in Britain. As a result our copy is one of the only 500. Ill. with 4 lithographic pl. (front. cut out and pasted on first flyleaf). An 8-page publisher's catalogue at the end.
Ref. COPAC. - Abbey 479 (= Penzer p. 41, Schwerdt I:90).
