4to: 956-[32] pp.; 8 pl. (engr. title lacking, irregular pagination, ms. prov. cut off on title, occ. foxing, marginal dampstain on some ff. in the end, margin of 1 f. of the Index strengthened).
Contemp. three-quarter sheep, marbled paper covers, gilt decorated spine with raised bands, red edges.
Edition by Cornelius Schrevelius of this work on Roman Antiquity, the first to contain the treatises of Paul Manuce ("De legibus, et de senatu") and André Schott ("I. De priscis rom. gentil. ac familiis. II. De tribubus rom. xxxv. rusticis atque urbanis. III. De ludis festisque rom. ex kalendario vetere"). Illustrated with 8 plates, 3 fold., figuring a city plan of Rome, coins, gladiator fights etc. The work was first published in Basel in 1583 and was enlarged in 1613 by the Scottish historian Thomas Dempster.
