Drawing, white and black chalk on brown prepared paper, 22,2 x 33 cm, underlaid paper, unsigned (some brown spots and glue marks on verso).
Finely drawn representation of three shepherds resting by the fireplace, with the flames illuminating their faces. The scene is set in a stable and a flock of sheep, a bull and donkey can be seen on the left. The white chalk on brown support is used to achieve a rustic nocturnal impression. Possibly Neapolitan.
