12mo: [4]-96-112-[3-1 bl.] pp. (sl. fox. and brown., occ. marg. defects, last ff. loosening).
Contemp. calf bound back to front, gilt orn. spine on 4 raised bands (edges and spine sl. rubbed). Good copy.
Rare 2nd corrected edition (1st 1654) by Walton (1600-1661), English priest, divine and scholar, editor of a monumental Polyglot Bible in 9 languages, published in 6 folios between 1654 and 1657. "Walton used the "Introductio" to respond to the critics of his Polyglot Bible and to justify the value of studying the text of scripture in ancient and oriental languages" (Biblical Criticism). Printed back to front, alphabets in Oriental types. Ill. with some wood engravings in text picturing medals.
