Dutch trsl. and adaptation of the famous centennial memorial volume “Imago primi saeculi”, with special attention to the role of the Jesuits in the Low Countries. The Latin work was largely conceived by Joannes Bollandus (1596-1665). The Dutch prose was the work of L. Uwens; the verses are, for the larger part, written by A. Poirters. Engr. ill.: allegorical title by M. Natalis after A. van Diepenbeke, 103 emblems by C. Galle within varying borders, each one with a caption in Latin & Dutch, and 1 full-page emblematical ill. (p. 702). One of the better emblem books of the Low Countries.
