Half dark green calf, dark green paper with grid pattern on boards, flat spines (sl. worn and rubbed).

First 8vo edition, published the same year as the first folio-ed. Ill. with 160 beautiful hand-coloured engravings (complete) . Explanatory text by Thory (1757-1827): description, local origins, hints for cultivation, etc. Valuable study for rose lovers as many described varieties have now disappeared. Ref.
