Cont. half roan dyed in red with paper boards, flat spine (rubbed, corners bumped, head and tail, lower and bottom edge def.). Bookblock and plates in good condition.
Superbly illustrated Dutch flora by A. Munting (1626-1683), botanist and professor at the University of Groningen. This is the first posthumously publ. and the third, much enlarged edition of his botanical masterpiece "Waare oeffening der planten" (1st Amst. 1672). He enlarged the botanical garden of his father H. Munting, one of the most extensive gardens of that period. Engr. ills : title by J. Goeree (1670-1731), title-vign., 6 head- and 5 endpcs and 243 numb. full-page plates. These pls by I. Gole and J. Mulder depict different plants in landscapes or architectural settings.
