Description du lot

13 vol., 4to; front., 2 fold. tables and 2 pl. (occ. spotting; light dampst. in vol. 6).

Contemp. mottled sheep, continuously numbered gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, red edges (some heads and tails sl. damaged, some rubbing to boards).

First two parts (1st part "until the birth of the Messiah", incl. its supplement, in first ed., 2nd part "until the end of the synagogue" in later ed. (1st 1753)) of the "Histoire" by the French Jesuit historian Berruyer (1681-1758), that was swiftly condemned and put on the "Index librorum prohibitorum". Ill. with a front. engr. by Lépicié after F. Boucher and 2 fold. maps by J.F. Benard. With 2 large fold. tables.
