1st vol. of the publication on Dutreuil de Rhins' expoloration of Chinese Turkestan, edited by his assistant Grenhard. This vol. is considered the most important one as it contains the account of the exploration itself. During this exporation in the least accessible and least-known regions of Tibet, Dutreuil de Rhins was murdered by locals in 1894. Ill. with an engr. portrait of the author by E. van Muyden and 56 photographic plates.
