Contemp. mottled calf, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, red edges (corners and sides repaired, joints and bands rubbed).

First edition of this travel account by the Jesuit Lafitau (1681-1746). Engr. ill.: headpiece and front. showing Lisbon by J.-B. Scotin, full-page portrait of "don Henri" and 14 full-page plates showing i.a. cityviews of Cochin and Cananov, Goa, Calicut, Malaca, Daman, etc. Some plates with half-page portraits above and views underneath.
