2 parts (of 4) in 1 vol., 4to (n.c., very few spots).
Contemp. mottled sheep, richly gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, sp. edges (joints starting to split at the bottom, sm. losses at head and tail).
Part 1 & 2 (of 4) only of the first edition of this architectural work, dedicated to geometry and trigonometry, by the French engineer and cartographer Manesson-Mallet (1630-1706). Abundantly ill. with a portrait of Louis XIV, a portrait of the author and 257 (136, 120) in-text pl., almost all full-page, depicting instruments, castles (Versailles, Fontainebleau, Vincennes, Chantilly, etc.) and monuments (Notre-Dame, Leaning tower of Pisa, etc.) but also sm. maps, used to illustrate the concrete notions of the science.
