Later ed. (1st French 1737-1753) of this work of enourmous value to the 18th-c. engineers by Belidor (1698-1761) dealing with problems involving transport, shipbuilding, waterways, water supply, and ornamental fountains (Honeyman). Belidor deals as one of the earliest with the mechanical engineering of hydraulics. Ill. with 44 engr. pl. (complete following each of the separate titles) of which some double pages. Title in red & black.
