Engr., 43,7 x 56,2 cm, hand-coloured (very light offsetting at left side, very lightly toned).
Hinged at upper edge. Under passe-partout.
Double hemisphere set in a spectacular decorative border, containing 2 celestial spheres at the top, astronomical diagrams and north & south polar projections at the bottom, completed with allegorical representations of the 4 elements. Based on Blaeu's wall map, de Wit (1630-1706) engraved this world map for Hendrik Doncker's "De Zee-Atlas ofte Water-Wereld [...]". Verso blank.
