First edition of this plea against the use of the rack for judicial interrogation and investigation, by the Dordrecht/Rotterdam physician and poet D. Jonctys (1600-1654). It is an enlarged translation of "Tribunal reformatum" (Hamburg 1624) by J. Grevius. With in fine a chapter out of "Utopia": "Gevoelen van Thomas Morus, dat dievery met de dood niet behoort gestraft te werden". Ill. with engr. title depicting Justitia.
