Contemp. vellum, flat spine titled in ink. Good copy.

Rare study of German matrimonial legislation and customs by the German lawyer and legal historian Grupen (1692-1767), also mayor of Hannover. With an early study of the marriage of Henry the Lion (1129-1195) and Matilda (1156-1189), daughter of Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Engr. ill.: 1 folding pl., 3 full-page pl. (i.a. funeral monument of Henry and Matilda), and a number of woodcuts.
